SUPPORTING THE LIVING REPUBLICAN TRADITION
THE MINERVAN REPUBLIC exists to recover, examine, and transmit the civic republican tradition across centuries and continents. That tradition is public in character. Its core principles of resistance to arbitrary power, the practice of open deliberation, and the education of citizens in self-government must remain freely accessible.
At the same time, the denser historical and analytical labor required to sustain the tradition cannot be maintained by goodwill alone. Multi-part series on the Risorgimento and Mazzinian thought, extended studies of early Black republicanism, complete book analyses, and the systematic recovery of sources demand time, continuity, and independence. These investigations are now carried by those who elect to become Citizens.

This division is deliberate. It preserves the open, deliberative character of the tradition while securing the material conditions necessary for its continued scholarly life. The Left has Ford, Open Society, Tides, etc. The Right has Claremont, Heritage, etc. The civic-republican current has almost nothing. The only way to win is to create an equivalent force and no longer accept subordination or wait for an ideal leader that only partially exhibits its philosophy.
