Thoughts on Anti-Blackness as the norm in the world, asks “Do I Live in Your World?”
DO I LIVE IN YOUR WORLD
We do not live in “a White man’s world,” and certainly not in the world of the racists and anti-blackness far and wide across this planet. Is this not what we are taught to think of ourselves, as Black people in this world, or in whatever country, or continent — even among our own? That, we are an intrusion, a people merely carried here or there. That, we live in the world of others, who can move and treat us anyway they like or please? Don’t we live in a world like Chris Keller said in All My Sons. We live in a world, and a grand universe. There is no space that can limit us. We should not bound ourselves to the racial dualities and “dual consciousness” with which the American sees all the world. . .sees their little neighborhood. That is not the mapping of the world. Those are just maps. Now, we break the line. Now, we break through and know no confinement. We who now realize we are not bound and will no longer bound ourselves to the limited ways in which we have been thus influenced and expected to think as the modern. We will set a new way. If those of anti-black sentiment get in our way, then simply we will move them and step on the neck of the snake. Wisdom will conquer. We, who fear no man nor ruler. Aye! Move through the world, not bound by these things, and weak men will abhor you and steep in their stupid assumptions, their little beliefs, their jealousies . . . they will destroy themselves. Yet, be on guard against their ignorance and evil, and know how to combat and crush them and avert their ways. Reflect back upon them their weaknesses and flaws, and their darkness. Move as terror, like the darkness of Space. Little men, little men, we do not live in “your world.” We will move in spite of the weaknesses of man, without permission and not with a mighty audible roar, but with all pressures — tides, low, high and unseen through the loud and rancorous clatter.
